My top 3 tips to hire the best Change professionals for your business.
It was great to partner with Melanie Franklin MCMI ChMC last month to run a session for a number of Change & Transformation leaders on 'How to hire Change Management resources'.
Lots of insights and experiences shared with the group. Here are my top 3 tips to make sure you hire the right Change professional for your business....
1. Understand your needs - Feels like an obvious one. But what level of experience do you need? Senior vs Junior. Sector experience? Tech experience? - Can you translate this into a well written job description? (Give me a shout if you need any help with the JD!)
2. Telling the story/Career progression - Where does Change sit in your organisation? What stage of maturity are you at (be honest with this to avoid any surprises!)? What does career progression look like?
In a competitive market it's important to think about what you are offering the candidate in future years, not only to attract the best people, but to keep them!
3. Get the assessment right - Focusing on behavioural questions at interview to understand how the candidate will act in similar situations. Testing strategic thinking and cultural fit. Look for those softer skills and test emotional intelligence. Lot's to get into a 45 minute/1 hour interview, so take time to prepare to get it right!
