Data-Led Change
In today’s world, the value of good data is undeniable but how do we unlock data’s great value when it comes to driving Change?
Tanya Gribble, founder of Thrive in Change shares here insights on how you can harness the power of data to embed successful Change.
Successful Change requires focus, persistence, and resilience from everyone involved. Data that resonates both logically and emotionally can enhance each of these, amplifying benefits and accelerating progress.
In initiating the Change, analysing strategic performance data creates a compelling case for change along with clear measures of success. What does the data reveal about where the biggest change is needed? What do organisational targets, strategic priorities and industry benchmarks indicate about untapped opportunities?
In designing the Change, identifying organisational levers with clear impact on your measures of success (see above) as the basis for all Change activity is imperative to giving confidence in the solution. Consider KPI trees, process maps, industry research and expert guidance
In landing the Change, grounding all engagement activity in a data-based ‘why’ (as defined in initiating and designing above) empowers leaders to prioritise activity, reassures teams impacted by the change and reduces resistance to new activity.
Of course there are many other ways data can be used to support successful change (quantifying secondary benefits, demonstrating progress and facilitating effective decision to name a few), but I firmly believe data’s biggest power is in leading the direction of Change Initiatives; identifying the why, using it to focus all activity and as the foundation to support those involved - so if you do nothing else with data in your next Change initiative then do take the three considerations above - I guarantee you won’t regret it.
